relative levels of beet necrotic yellow vein virus in susceptible to resistant genotypes of sugar beets during growing season

چکیده
in order to study the trend of bnyvv concentrations during growing season, 6 cultivars including dorohtea, laetitia(as resistant cultivars), zarghan (as a tolerant cultivar), shirin (as a susceptible cultivar), f2-93 (an f2 population with 75 % rz2 gene) and bc1-261-99 (a population with 25% rz2 gene) were used. the cultivars were planted in split plot based on a randomized complete block design with 4 replications. main plots were four different dates of sampling (2, 3 and 4 months after planting and harvesting time) for elisa. in each sampling date, 12 plants were selected randomly from each plot for das-elisa. the experiment was repeated for two years in a naturally rhizomania infested field. mean of elisa values was increased in the initial sampling dates and then decreased gradually up to the end of the season. based on the trend of elisa values, logical grouping of the genotypes was happened in the second and third sampling dates in the first and second years, respectively. the results showed that reaction of sugar beet genotypes to the disease could be identified 3-4 months after planting and that detecting infested fields in this period would be reliable.

Interactions Between Beet necrotic yellow vein virus and Beet soilborne mosaic virus in Sugar Beet
Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) and Beet soilborne mosaic virus (BSBMV) are members of the genus Benyvirus (9). Both viruses infect members of the family Chenopodiaceae, most notably sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.), and are transmitted by the plasmodiophorid, Polymyxa betae (1,2). BNYVV infection causes rhizomania disease in sugar beet (4,21); however, BSBMV infection does not (28). BSBMV...
متن کاملCharacterization of beet necrotic yellow vein furovirus from Spanish sugar beets.
Rhizomania is a viral disease, caused by beet necrotic yellow vein furovirus (BNYVV), which was detected in Spanish sugar beets in 1988, it being focused on the Castilla y León region. BNYVV has five RNA fragments with specific functions, and the different composition and proportion of RNA in the virions allow their separation and the characterization of their activities during the development ...
متن کاملGenetic Investigation of Resistance to Beet Necrotic Yellow Vein Virus
Management of rhizomania includes planting in cool soils, proper irrigation and soil fumigation with methyl bromide. However, breeding for resistance to BNYW is the most critical aspect of rhizomania control In this study, the inheritance of resistance to beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYW) in B. vulgaris subsp. maritima. wild beet (WB) accession WB42 was investigated. Crosses between resist...

Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) is a member of the genus Benyvirus (21,22) and causes the disease known as rhizomania. It often is reported to be the most important sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) virus (17). BNYVV is transmitted by the plasmodiophorid, Polymyxa betae Keskin (1,2,6). In the United States, the virus first was identified in California in 1984 (5) but now occurs in every maj...
